This article is very relevant in today's political discourse. Both ZANU PF AND THE TWO MDC FORMATIONS lacks the political will and capability to solve the myriad of economic and social problems that are our beloved nation is in. Mugabe is willing to build a legacy that will forever be cherished by every Zimbabwean, however the levers of state power are no longer in his control. The military chiefs are the biggest obstacle to any meaningful work of reforming the economic and social landscape of our nation. Mugabe is now a slave of his own system that he created. What Zimbabwe needs is a set of moderate reformists from all the political fronts who will steer progress in our nation. Only Mugabe holds the key to the true transformation of this nation.

I have always expected press repression to come from government officials in Zimbabwe. This is typical to all states with less transparency in government dealings.

At times journalists end up imposing themselves a censorship blanket for fear of reprisal from government officials .

What this story typifies is most likely explained by fact that at times media houses go to bed with government officials by giving positive coverage so as to protect interests .

What Patience Nyangove went through is sad reality that so called "Independent" media could collude with government officials to suppress freedom of expression . More so does it imply corrupt relationships between editors and government officials?

One then wishes to answer this question - who is the enemy of free press in Zimbabwe ? Corrupt editors , corrupt government officials or anybody with power under their sleeves ?

Patience Nyangove's name has been and will be painted black to make her unemployable but journalists need to take note of this enemy within.

I have tremendous respect for @trevorncube and the work they have done at AMH and I am aware that they would investigate this matter .

I just pray that no one will again pass through what Patience went through.

Society needs to understand that economic and social progress of a nation requires a vibrant media. UK has ensured freedom of press and has benefited both socially and economically .

I long for that day when so called "freedom" maybe be viewed ,read & experienced on the streets as journalists are allowed to play their due part in governance of Zimbabwe

My heart sank when I read this piece. Sad to think that this is just one journalist's ordeal. How many others have gone through the same or worse? Iv said it elsewhere, vana ava (journalists) vari munhamo. They will be the first beneficiaries of a free press, whenever our country will achieve it.
However, I dont mean to give anybody a lesson here on how to present there work (Im no journalist myself) but on sharing this piece on twitter I couldn't help but change the title to express the simplicity and authenticity of the pain that the article expresses. 'Bruised but not broken' to me is a title which makes the article sound like a creative piece. More like a short story or a high school composition piece or a long poem kind of title. One stumbles upon this kind of headline often in Zimbabwean journalism. Humble titles that blunt the cutting edge of the content. "Zimbabwe is my home and one day I will return and practise journalism again" though long is the line I'd use for a title for this one. Anybody would want to know what happened. But then again, I'm no journalist. They know better.
